Make More Money with the Correct Mindset for Giving Referrals

Recently, we learned that we are sitting on a gold mine here at Elevate, and we’ve learned that the most important aspect of our gold mine is our fellow gold miners, both members and visitors.

Two weeks ago, I discussed getting your LinkedIn profile ship shape and then using virtual connection requests there to make real world connections here by inviting them to visit Elevate.

Last week, we discussed the tactics you can use to mine gold in the form of proactive referrals during your 121’s and Power Team Meetings.

This week, I want to discuss the proper mindset when using this proactive referral method.

First, your primary motivation shouldn’t be helping your fellow member by giving a referral.

Your primary motivation should be your desire to help your clients and friends beyond your area of practice.

Second, remember that you can always help these people because you have the deepest Rolodex (our roster of vetted members) and can always introduce a trusted resource that can solve the person’s problem.

Now that you have the right mindset and your trusted resources handy, you’re ready to help whomever you speak to.

And the referral is just a byproduct of your willingness to help.

Finally, remember that if you help your client in areas beyond your practice, you will give yourself an opportunity to differentiate yourself from your competitors and demonstrate that you are not just another vendor; but that you are a valuable partner who will contribute to the success of their business.

So use these tips to become a superhero helper, and I definitely guarantee that we will all make more money.
