Elevate is a networking community organized to help our members make more money through structured collaboration and referrals.
And change is difficult.
As you saw a few minutes ago, after 15 years of giving my ‘make more money moment’ in the middle of the meeting, I was on auto pilot and didn’t realize that the agenda had changed and that I was supposed to go first.
So here’s a little story about difficult changes.
Since I’ve mastered tennis, I decided I needed another easy challenge … so I took up golf.
But I think I’m naturally good at that because with about 2 months of golf experience, I just shot a 72.
Have any of the golfers on this call ever shot a 72…on a 9 hole par 3, so I think that’s great.
And I know you’re actually thinking that’s not great … because that’s quintuple bogey golf; or 5 over on every hole.
But I think it’s great, because everyone needs to get in the game and start somewhere, and now I have a baseline of my current level of skill to measure my improvement against.
So how does this apply to us at Elevate?
For years, my nephews have been playing golf and I always wanted to spend more time with them, but learning to play tennis at a high level was difficult, and for years my ego couldn’t handle the soul crushing feeling of sucking at something else, so I sat on the sideline; and I didn’t play golf and I didn’t spend more time with my nephews.
And then recently, I realized I sucked at networking 15 years ago and I worked at it and became an expert networker.
And then I remembered that I sucked at tennis 10 years ago,
and I worked at it and became a strong tennis player.
Then I said to myself that I have the ability to accomplish anything I set my mind to and with that I hired a golf coach to start this next journey.
And this relates to Elevate because I see many of my fellow members sitting on the sideline, afraid to try some of our more advanced networking tactics, and then they never get great at networking and they don’t make the money they want.
So ask yourself, do you want to make more money networking?
If yes, are you willing to put a little effort into it?
If yes, then the first part of this equation is solved.
I’m your networking coach, so you don’t need to spend the time searching for one.
The next part is up to you.
The next Elevator Accelerator, our in depth networking training session is on the schedule, so act now and RSVP.
So come get some networking practice with me once per month at Elevator Accelerator, and then get in the game to test your networking skills, and I guarantee you that you will get more comfortable with doing these advanced networking tactics, get more referrals and just maybe … you’ll shoot a score of 1 million dollars in the game of networking, where unlike golf, a higher score is infinitely better!
