A couple of weeks ago we all lost a dear friend and a mentor, Zig Ziglar.
He was perhaps the first Motivational Speaker and has helped millions of people improve themselves.
Lisa usually ends our meetings with a motivational quote, sometimes from Zig, but I wanted to open our meeting with some of his words of wisdom–“Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude.”
Here is one that sounds just like the philospohpy of NYC–“You can have everything in life you want, if you just help enough other people get what they want.”
We have often spoken about determining a customer’s need and fulfilling it. Zig said, “Every sale has five basic obstacles: no need, no money, no hurry, no desire, no trust.” Zig is pointing out that we need to have a plan, take action and that your success depends upon trust.
And what happens when you hit an obstacle? Zig said, “When obstacles arise, you change your direction to reach your goal; you do not change your decision to get there.”
And he sid, “Outstanding people have one thing in common: an absolute sense of mission”
He also said, “Remember that failure is an event, not a person.”
Zig Ziglar got people moving…and moving in the right direction. He said, “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.”
And “Everybody says they want to be free. Take the train off the tracks and it’s free-but it can’t go anywhere.”
Finally, let’s go back to the importance of Attitude, a confident Attitude is also very important. Zig said, “Confidence is going after Moby Dick in a rowboat and taking the tartar sauce with you.
So, that is it for today, next week, more lessons and, hopefully, motivation, because Zig said, “People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing. That’s why we recommend it daily.”
