Make More Money With One Power Referral

NYC Elevate is a million dollar a month networking community organized to help our members make more money through structured collaboration and referrals.

Recently, we discussed that you should simplify your requests here at Elevate if you really want to make more money, and last week I had a conversation with Danya Rogers Cohan, our Mobility and Telecom professional, that perfectly illustrates this concept.

First off, for most of us, it’s kind of hard to describe exactly what she does, but in the end, trying to focus on what she does might actually get in the way of giving her referrals.

Long story short, a great referral for her is any business that’s relocating, and of course we would refer her when this opportunity presented itself.

But a much better power referral would be to introduce her to all of the commercial real estate brokers that we know.


If she gets in good with one broker, that broker will refer her to every business they are helping to relocate.
So I advised that her only ask should be for introductions to commercial real estate brokers.

Imagine if she does this week after week and only gets one partner per quarter; after 2 years she would have 8 brokers referring her and she’ll have all the business she ever needs.

So your action item for this week is to think about a super simple power referral like this for yourself, and then start asking for it, week after week.

Do this and I guarantee that you will make more money.
