NYC Elevate is a networking community organized to help our members make more money through structured collaboration and referrals.
This week’s make more money moment is about having the proper long term perspective.
For those of you that follow me on Facebook, then you know that every year I take a cross country train trip to San Francisco.
Invariably every time I take this trip I’m inundated with comments about how there are quicker ways to get there like I haven’t heard of the invention of the airplane.
And that made me think that many people might be confused between a journey and getting to a destination, and how that might relate to us here at Elevate.
When I joined Elevate almost 13 years ago, I came to this room with zero clients and zero revenue having recently just started my business.
And I really needed to make money quickly as the bills were piling up.
And if you told me that my destination was a million dollars per year in referred business but that destination was all the way across the country, I would have asked where can I book my flight and how soon can I go.
But the trouble is that this destination is only served by taking a long train ride.
By meeting people along the way and building long term relationships with them.
In short, there are no shortcuts to being successful here at Elevate.
And if you get off the train too soon then you’ll never get to that destination of a million dollars.
The key idea here is to know you’re on the right train, and that it’s going in the right direction.
And we know that we’re on the right train, going in the right direction, because our collective odometer logs $1M per month and $92M since we started this journey,
So the sooner you understand that our collective journey is the destination, the more you’ll enjoy the trip, and at that point I guarantee that you’ll make more money.
