NYC Elevate is a networking community organized to help our members make more money through structured collaboration and referrals.
The other day I was training with my tennis coach and a girl in the tennis class on the next court missed a shot and she screamed “I’m horrible!”
The coach immediately said “You’re learning.”
And that got me thinking about my first year in Elevate over a decade ago, and how I struggled with all of the moving parts, and how I thought about quitting because it hurt my ego that I wasn’t great at networking instantaneously.
I thought I was horrible, but really I was learning.
And then a decade goes by and I learned how to do this so well that now I teach a Networking PhD class.
So put one foot in front of the other; keep experimenting and learning in this safe space, and I guarantee that you’ll not only become a networking expert, you’ll make more money.
Now back to my tennis lesson where I missed my next shot and I shouted “It’s OK, I’m learning!” and then my coach immediately said “you’re horrible!”
