Elevate is a networking community organized to help our members make more money through structured collaboration and referrals.
Recently, we asked if there was gold in the Elevate mine for us.
And then we discussed how our 85 members are directly connected to about 5,000 people and collectively how we are directly connected to over 500,000 people, dozens of whom need our services today.
Then we discussed how to give an effective commercial with a great tagline to start building traction within Elevate.
So what’s next in your networking journey?
We have to remember Elevate is all about building relationships, and after you do that you’ll get referrals.
And the best method we have for building relationships are 121s.
1. What’s the etiquette of whom should be asking for the 121?
The simple answer is you. If you want to have a 121 with someone, just ask them.
2. What’s the etiquette of responding to a 121 request?
If an Elevate member reaches out to you for a 121, a response is absolutely required.
Let me say that again. If an Elevate member reaches out to you for a 121, a response is absolutely required.
And while a response is required, if I’m having a very busy week, you will still get a reply from me, but I might ask you if we can regroup in a couple of weeks to schedule at that point.
3. Who should you be having a 121 with?
The short answer is everyone. In fact, I’ve had 121s with all of you except a couple of newer members, who are already on my upcoming calendar.
However, if you’re a newer member, I would prioritize having 121 with all of the members of your primary power team.
And this is a critical tactic because the people on your power team all speak to the same prospects as you while selling different things, so there will be ample opportunities to cross refer one another.
And while you should have a lot of 121s with people on your power team, don’t ignore the rest of the membership because you don’t know whom your fellow members know.
For example, a member’s sister might be the CEO of the company that you’ve been desperately trying to connect with and she can make the introduction.
4. You should 121 Goals.
Finally, you absolutely need to have goals for your 121s. In fact, you should have at least one 121 with every other member in the chapter once per year, so your minimum goal should be at least two 121s per week.
And after you have 121s with everyone this year, you should rinse and repeat and do it all over again next year, because the process of building relationships never ends.
Wrapping this up, if you allow your fellow members to get to know you better, I guarantee that you’ll get more referrals and you’ll make more money.
