BNI Elevate is a networking community organized to help our members make more money through structured collaboration and referrals.
As people who are pursuing constant improvement in our lives, whenever a problem arises that hinders us from achieving a goal, we’ll typically start stressing and worrying about it.
Don’t do that.
Instead, look at your problems and realize that they are only problems until you change them into questions.
Because not all problems can be solved, but most questions can be answered.
Let’s say you have a problem like business is too slow due to an unforeseen event like COVID.
Most people in this situation will start to worry and think why is this happening to me?
This is the wrong question because it’s not proactive.
Instead of worrying about the problem, you can formulate it into a proactive question like: How can I bring in more money for the business during this challenging time?
An even better question would be: “How can I bring in more money for the business during this challenging time and have fun while doing it?”
Adding the modifier “Have fun while doing it,” will get you to come up with solutions you’ll actually enjoy pursuing.
This will make solving the problem much easier.
For me, I really like attending this weekly zoom meeting, and by attending this meeting I get a lot of referrals.
And in the past I would visit a lot of different chapters, and I received a lot of referrals from those visits.
But travelling across town and visiting other chapters was time consuming.
However, now that all chapters are meeting on zoom, I can attend another meeting on Tuesday and another one on Thursday with a fraction of the time commitment.
Keep in mind that you should always come up with at least three answers to your question.
This way you’ll have some choices and options instead of feeling stuck.
Now it does take some thought and time to figure out answers, but if you can make it a habit to immediately rephrase all your problems as questions, you’ll find answers much more quickly, and I guarantee that you’ll make more money.
