Make More Money By Asking For What You Want

Recently, we learned that we are sitting on a gold mine here at Elevate, and we’ve learned that the most important aspect of our gold mine is our fellow gold miners, both members and visitors.

Two weeks ago, we discussed the tactics you can use to mine gold in the form of proactive referrals during your 121s and Power Team Meetings.

Last week, I discussed the proper mindset when using this proactive referral method which is to focus on helping your clients and contacts by opening up your Rolodex.

The next thing we need to learn is how to ask for the thing that we really want, no matter how bold, so let me tell you a quick story.

A few weeks ago, I went into a wine store on a Thursday and noticed that they had a sign that said “20% off on Fridays.”

So I proceeded to grab some bottles, and when I got to the register, I asked the manager if I could get the 20% Off Friday Sale price.

He said “Sorry. It’s Thursday.”

I said “But it’s Friday in Australia”

He laughed and said “Cool. You get 20% off.”

So how does that relate to Elevate?

Everyone in this room joined because they wanted to grow their business, and they knew that part of the deal is that we have to help our fellow members grow their businesses. Givers gain as we say.

So if you’re looking through my Linkedin or my client roster on my website, and you want a critical introduction, all you need to do is ask.

The worst thing that could have happened to me was that the wine store manager could have said ‘no’ and I would have paid full price as I was expecting when I went to the store.

The worst thing your fellow member could say to you when you ask for that critical introduction is no, but they’ll probably say ‘yes’, and they might even throw in a 20% discount.

So ask for what you want from your fellow members, no matter how bold, and I guarantee that you will make more money.
