Back to Basics

As we approach the close of the year, and the cusp of 2019, I thought we could use a little down-to-Earth shot in the arm. So today we’re going to keep it short, simple, and hopefully impactful, in a piece I’m calling “Back to Basics.”

No smoke and mirrors. Just the goods.

In a moment, I’m going to ask you to answer two questions.

Your answer to the first, does not need to be shared with anyone. So I want to encourage you to be honest with yourself and answer authentically. Whatever immediately comes to mind.

The second question will be something that hopefully you’ll choose to share in future commercials and 121’s – but only if you want to – so you can still be as clear and honest as possible.

Because we have limited time, I’m only going to give you about 10 sec to write each answer. So if need be, just jot down bullet points that can be referenced and cultivated later.

First question, clear your mind – are you ready?:

Regarding any aspect of your life, what is the most important thing you’d like to build, create, or develop in 2019?

Write down whatever comes to you. Great.

Second question:

Regarding your business specifically, what goal are you most committed to achieving in 2019?

This could be a dollar amount, a position, a transition, a number of clients, anything. Ok, wrote it down? Great.

Now with both of these answers, there are two other questions to ask yourself about each. You can answer them now or just write down the questions for later.

What is the next appropriate action or actions to take in service of creating what you answered?
Looking around the room (or in the roster), who are the people to partner with who will best support you in these endeavors?

Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want – especially from yourself. Allow the space to think it and speak it. And when you’re ready, share it.
